Learn about the support services available for your child in and out of district. A Q & A session will take place after Ms. Fryzel’s informative presentation.

Join Mr. Hardy as he discusses services and accommodations available for students with learning disabilities who are preparing for, or are already in college.

Foods and Additives: The Impact on Children’s Behavior and Academic Performance by Dr. Richard M. Carlton, M.D. Dr. Carlton is a psychiatrist with 35 years of experience helping parents determine which environmental factors might impact ADHD as well as other behavior issues. He will discuss his findings showing that nutrient supplements greatly improve learning and behavior in children with Learning Disabilities.

Promoting your Child’s Self Esteem by Bonie Januszewski-Yuarte (aka Bonnie Jan). Ms. Jan will discuss how self esteem and your chid’s overall opinion of herself, is shaped by thoughts, relationships and experiences. You will get a chance to participate in activities that are used to help children examine, and strengthen their own sense of self and resilience. Ms. Jan has over 30 years of experience working with children who have been diagnosed with ADHD, bipolar depression, OCD, ODD and autistic spectrum disorder.

Social Skills by Lisa Freeman, SLP and Evelyn Kashinsky. Does your child sometimes lack the knowledge or the confidence to communicate well in social settings? The presenters will discuss skills that are important to navigating the social world as well as techniques and strategies for teaching these concepts. Lisa Freeman and Evelyn Kashinsky are co-Founders of Steps2Socialization in Port.

Using the iPad for Educating Students with Special Needs, by Rebecca McKee, MSED, BCBA. Ms. McKee will discuss how the iPad can be implemented within all types of classrooms to enable students with special needs to participate and communicate. Ms. McKee will also discuss the importance of hobbies, and how to teach them to children with varied special needs.
